Power Generation

solutions for a highly demanding industry

The problems Aalberts are presented with tend to fall into three inter-related areas: corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance and dry lubrication.

Corrosion resistance is usually best dealt with using our MagnaCoat® range of coatings. MagnaCoat® surfaces are heavy-duty fluoropolymer coatings which are pinhole free. They can also offer good non-stick properties and some have high electrical and impact resistance, even at elevated temperatures.

The coatings provide excellent barrier protection to resist sources of corrosion.

Abrasion resistance can be resolved either by the use of a hard facing coating such as HVOF applied Tungsten Carbide or, more often, by using the TC6501 energy absorption coating. TC6501 is an excellent erosion, impact and cavitation resistant Polyurethane coating with permanent elasticity especially under dynamic wear situations.

A key coating solution for the power generation industry are dry lubrication coatings. These are used where moving parts need lubrication but, as the name suggests, the lubricity needs to be dry. An example would be a bearing in an inaccessible location. The Impreglon range of dry lubrication coatings includes PTFE, PTFE/graphite, PTFE/Molybdenum Disulphide and Molybdenum Disulphide on its own.

Our client base includes many blue chip companies from a wide range of sectors.
