Tartaric Sulphuric Acid Anodising

corrosion resistant solutions

Tartaric sulphuric acid anodising is a specialised electrochemical process employed in the surface treatment of aluminium and its alloys. Diverging from the conventional sulphuric acid anodising method and developed as a direct replacement for chromic acid anodising,  tartaric  acid anodising utilises a bath containing tartaric acid as the primary electrolyte. This process presents various advantages, including heightened corrosion resistance, improved adhesion for subsequent coatings, and a more uniform oxide layer on the aluminium surface. Tartaric acid, a naturally occurring compound found in different plants, functions as a gentle yet effective alternative to the more abrasive sulphuric acid, making it a preferred choice in industries where precise control over anodising parameters is essential. The resultant anodised aluminium demonstrates excellent aesthetic qualities, rendering it suitable for applications in aerospace, automotive, and architectural sectors where both performance and appearance are pivotal considerations.

applications include

  • Aerospace
  • Marine Industry
  • Transportation
  • Consumer Goods
